Esta série de trem foi fabricado no Japão em 1958 por um consórcio de empresas formado pelas: Tokyio Shibaura (Toshiba); Kawasaki Heavy Industries; e Tokiu Car Co. em uma quantia de 30 trens formados por dois carros reboques e um carro motor central. Popularmente ficaram conhecidos como Toshiba. Deixaram de circular em São Paulo em 30/04/2010 (também é a data correta da foto).
