Thanks Dennis. Only 10 minutes prior to the train passing this location it was all in shadow as the sun wasn`t high enough.

Sicily is abeautiful island with many good locations to photograph trains along the coast. Most importantly the E656`s work all the Inter City trains, making this the last place to see haul trains on a daily basis.
A little further along the beach is a nudist area! You have to be careful walking around carrying a camera...

Hello Herbert,
The E656`s don`t have a lot of passenger work left on mainland Italy. This overnight Bolzano-Roma sleeper was one of the trains they worked regularly. I believe the train is now diagrammed for an E444.
The locomotive looks a little run down, no way ugly though! Top engines.
